What would you have told yourself if you knew you would be in the middle of a pandemic for a year or more? ⁣⁣I’ve been asking myself this question a lot lately. It’s my birthday coming up and last year, this time, was truly the last time I was out, at a restaurant with my friends. How freggin crazy is that?! ⁣⁣For me, as I reflect, I can appreciate the extra family time with my kids that I would have never gotten before. ⁣⁣I feel a sense of loss, of time missed with my parents, in-laws and extended family/friends. ⁣⁣I feel a sense of loss for all the businesses lost, families and people who are struggling and those that have been lost. ⁣⁣But most of all, I feel hope. I feel an overwhelming sense of love for one another. Lots has happened this year. Lots of “waking up”, coming together, fighting for what we need to fight for, and lots of kindness being spread like sprinkles . ⁣⁣We’ve got a long way to go, but together, we can do this. ⁣⁣So, what would you have told yourself if you knew this was coming? Sorting Letters t, h, and th ⁣⁣Hey I’m Kaley or @leapingintolearning. I share easy reading strategies that work! ⁣⁣Today we learned the sounds “th”. My son cannot say those sounds yet (normal-he’s 4) and often says fffff. Honestly, I think it’s the cutest thing ever and I know it will end soon enough! ⁣⁣BUT it is making an impact when we are starting to read books. SO, I am starting to correct him. ⁣⁣Funny thing though, even though he had difficulty pronouncing the “th” he was able to sort all of the sounds perfectly! ⁣⁣Here’s how I did this activity: ⁣- Print pictures that start with the sounds you’re on. ⁣- Draw bubble letters (I was never good at this so don’t judge ;-) ⁣- As the child sorts the sounds, say the word out loud, highlighting the beginning sound and then they sort them into they proper sounds. ⁣⁣Let me know if you try this one! ⁣⁣⁣ ... Make sure to save this 📷 to refer to later and follow me for more reading tips! ⁣⁣This is is an essential skill we need to teach our kids in order to build a strong reading foundation. It is especially helpful when kids are stuck on a word! ⁣⁣Here’s an example of what this would look like: ⁣-> truck - - - tr/u/ck = truck! ⁣⁣You would ask: ⁣⭐️ What sound does “tr” make? ⁣🌟 What sound does “u” make? ⁣💫 What sound does “ck” make? ⁣⁣Breaking up the sounds helps kids store these rules into their memory.
