Now that summer is here, I’m getting lots of questions about what you can do to help your child with their reading without too much pressure! ⁣⁣Hey, I’m Kaley or @leapingintolearning. Follow along for more great reading tips that work! ⁣⁣Here are 3 things that are fun AND help build literacy skills. ⁣⁣🌟 Play board games! There are so many great attributes of board games including: building literacy skills through reading cards; math skills through counting; social skills through talking and working together; and the list goes on! ⁣⁣⭐️ Let them choose their books! Kids will read when they’re reading something they’re interested in! ⁣⁣💫 Playing with others, in unstructured play for kids of ALL ages makes a huge difference in their speech and language development! ⁣⁣Do you worry about your child “falling behind”? ⁣⁣My biggest piece of advice for this summer, (especially this summer after a crazy year), is let them play. I just need to tell you- I’m not perfect. ⁣⁣My kids aren’t perfect.⁣I yell sometimes. ⁣I get frustrated. ⁣I get tired. ⁣I need alone time sometimes. ⁣⁣What we see on social media is often the snippets of greatness. The moments when no one is yelling. ⁣⁣And to be honest- These are the moments I like to remember at the end of the day when my kids are asleep and I’m to totally exhausted. When we miss them?! ⁣⁣Forgiving ourselves when we yell, or get frustrated, or hide in the bathroom, or just need alone time or when our kids yell at us- is imperative. ⁣⁣Let’s remember that social media offers an outlet for some us to follow other people’s lives. But please remember these are the best moments. How do you feel today? ⁣⁣No but seriously?! We hanging in there??⁣⁣Hey I’m Kaley or @leapingintolearning and I share Literacy tips that really work! Make sure to follow along for reading strategies that you don’t want to miss. ⁣⁣Now more than ever, it’s so important to ask our kids (and ourselves) how they feel. We’re STILL in lockdown in Ontario, Canada (yep. It’s true) and I’m noticing that my kids are having lots and lots of big feels (more than usual). ⁣⁣We need to recognize that talking about our feelings doesn’t make us any less. It doesn’t make us weak. It doesn’t mean that if we ignore our feelings they’re not there. ⁣⁣When we ask our kids how they feel, they may or may not want to share and that’s okay. My silver lining 💓⁣⁣Happy Tuesday everyone! Is it ever too cold/rainy for ice cream? ⁣⁣How are you doing? 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼⁣⁣We’re still in lockdown here. I’m tired of this. People keep saying - “Wow you’ve got your hands full with 4 young kids.” ⁣My answer- “We’ve all got our hands full no matter where you are in this stage!” ⁣⁣You know what I miss the most? My friends.
